Contemporary Girly Girls Bedroom Decor

May 20th, 2012 by

My previous two girls bedroom decor sets ( [a.] pink & white girls bedroom ; [b.] blue & pink girls bedroom) have both been of the shabby chic, country cottage variety. For something a little different, I had a go at designing a more trendy, contemporary girly girls bedroom. Here’s what I came up with!
I hope you like it! :D

Sandwich cutters & Cute Sandwiches - heart-shaped

Yes, even sandwiches can be cute!

You may have seen pictures of the amazing bento box art that some Japanese mothers make for their kids to take to school. But cute sandwiches don’t just have to be for kids! In fact, tiny adorable sandwiches have been part of the time-old English tradition of Afternoon High Tea for many years.

Why not get some sandwich cutters of various shapes to make your next picnic or garden tea party a little more fun and interesting?

You can get a bunch of cute sandwich cutters in various shops. Here are some of my favorites from Amazon.com: (more…)

Swimdresses

Swimdresses

Hearts Drawn in the Sand Post Cards

I love wearing swimdresses on a day at the beach or by the pool. They have all the appeal of a sexy minidress with the modesty of a one-piece swimsuit which makes for the perfect combination for those who are looking for pretty and chic swimswear that doesn’t reveal their tummy.

Swimdresses often come in a dress and matching pants set (although the pants are usually well-covered by the dress and not visible to onlookers). Apart from their advantageous coverability, another plus is that you can even walk down the road in your swimdress and get away with it looking like a minidress!

I’ve been on the lookout for the cutest swimdress designs out there, and here’s what I’ve found: (more…)

Learning to Dance Ballroom

May 18th, 2012 by

whirly, twirly, oh so girly!

Ever since the TV program Dancing with the Stars started being screened (or as it’s known in the UK, Strictly Come Dancing), a little seed was planted in me that thought: “That looks like fun!” Seeing the girls whirling around so gracefully and smoothly across the dance floor, dressed with the most beautiful clothes I’ve seen in a long time really made me want to have a go at this art of dance too. I shared this desire with my best friend who was also a fan of the show and we resolved to learn to dance ballroom together.

Just Dance Posters

Shortly after making the resolution we went to a class together, but came away a bit disillusioned. Although it was a beginner’s class, everyone there seemed to know a lot more than us and we felt a bit like we had a tough time keeping up. Not only that, but since there were about 10 girls more than boys, it meant that as dance partners were rotated to let everyone have a go with a partner, I kept having to wait around until there was a free partner to dance with! In the end I think I spent more time in the lesson waiting for a partner than actually dancing. Suffice it to say, we didn’t particularly want to go back the following week. But the desire to learn was still there.

Last month it was my friend’s birthday and as I was considering which birthday presents to get him, our resolution to learn to dance popped into my mind, and suddenly I knew what I’d get him: A ballroom dancing DVD so that we could both learn to dance together at our own pace! (more…)

What to wear with bow rings?

May 17th, 2012 by

Sometimes I find a piece of jewelry that I love but for some reason I struggle to find an outfit that captures its spirit. You may have experienced this kind of thing before: standing in your underwear in your room, a gorgeous piece of jewelry that you know you want to wear glitters around your neck or finger and a gazillion items of clothing decorating your room as you pull one outfit after another from the closet and yet none of them feels right! What kind of outfits go with bow rings? Here are two outfit ideas I came up with.

GOLD BOW RING OUTFIT IDEA

Here is one idea for cute outfit that would suit a gold bow ring:

Pink outfit matching a cute gold bow ring

1. Pink Damask iphone case

2. Gold Bow Ring

3. Pink Satin Ankle Strap Platform Sandal

4. Lilly Pulitzer Women’s Pink and White Dragonfly Tinsley Dress

5. 14k Yellow Gold necklace with round gold beads

6. Genuine IceCarats 14K Yellow Gold Bangle Bracelet

7. Tommy Hilfiger Tasseled Pebble Small White Tote

Silver Bow Ring

Cute Girly girl quote - Giggles and curls, Ribbons and bows, She's adorable from her head to her toes

Whenever I think of ribbons and bows I think of either 50s fashion, big poodle skirts, girls wearing ribbons in their hair or elegant prom-light dresses with sashes that give the illusion that you’re all wrapped up like a pretty present.

I really like the dash of cuteness ribbons and bows add to an outfit, so when I saw that bow jewelry was in existence too, I became an immediate fan. One of my favorite pieces of bow jewelry are bow rings, particularly those that pretend to be made of pliable material but are in fact eternally tied bows of silver or gold.

Here are some examples of the kind of bow rings you can get on Amazon.com, which you can use to add a shiny sprinkle of girly cuteness to your outfit. (more…)

Pink Hello Kitty USB drives

Hello Kitty - cute Clouds poster

Hello Kitty is one of my favorite cute characters (or as you’d say in Japan, kawaii!). Everything about her is sweet: the fact that she’s so round that it makes you want to hug her, her beautiful smooth snow-white fur, her little bow and even some of the facts about her that most people don’t know about, like that Wikipedia describes her height as five apples and her weight as three apples! ^_^

Although she was invented in the 1970s, Hello Kitty has moved with the times and can now also be found on the most high-tech of equipment. Yes, there are even Hello Kitty USB flash drives now so that even something as ordinary as saving your work can be sprinkled with a touch of kawaii!

Here are some of the cutest Hello kitty flash drives out there: (more…)
